Acknowledgement of Country

Sandpit respectfully works across the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nations, as well as the Kaurna and Yugambeh peoples. We recognise and respect their continued cultural, spiritual and technological practices.

We also extend this to all First Nations peoples across the land known as Australia and pay respects to their Ancestors and Elders past and present.

As the very first storytellers and technologists, First Nations peoples possess invaluable knowledge and perspectives that are crucial to the work that we do across both the physical and digital realms.

Coopers Brand Home

Coopers Brand Home

Playful interactives that celebrate one of Australia’s most iconic, family owned brands.

Sandpit partnered with exhibition designer Arketype to develop a series of video works and two touch table interactives designed to bring the story of Coopers Brewery to life in their brand new visitor centre. The Coopers family worked closely with the Sandpit team to achieve storytelling that was exciting and engaging for visitors, while exploring the long history of the brand’s evolution in-depth.

The first of the touch tables hosts an interactive timeline showcasing five generations of family ownership and the many ways that Coopers has adapted to major world events over the years. The timeline is represented in a spiral in reference to Coopers’ famous roundel design, allowing visitors to spin the circle and interact with it from any angle, pulling out and exploring stories and images as they go.

The second interactive is a custom built game, playable by up to four visitors called ‘Bottle Your Personality’. Visitors answer a series of questions through an engaging, colourful user interface designed to mimic a modern bar. At the end, they find out what beer they would be if they could bottle their personality. Visitors are linked to the Coopers classic beer and home brew recipe most similar to their bespoke result, and have the opportunity to save their personalised beer label or post it online to keep the fun going. Sandpit built the game from scratch using 3D animation in Unreal Engine and were able to build in hidden easter egg features for keen-eyed players.

Sandpit’s other contributions include an animated video that explains the brewing process in an engaging, accessible way, an audio track of unheard and funny stories that plays in the bathrooms, a documentary piece on their state of the art packaging line and maltings, and video interviews on a diverse range of Coopers employees, taking visitors behind the scenes.
